Biography

My infatuation with CrossFit began close to three years ago. I hadn’t a clue how my life would drastically change after that first brutal week. Up until that point, I had considered myself a relatively active and healthy person, finding the majority of my conditioning outside of the traditional gym. After realizing how wrong I truly was, I was forever hooked in the sport termed ‘CrossFit’. It had truly turned into a lifestyle and not just an event.

There are a few reasons that the sport has been monumental in my life and will continue to enhance my lifelong love of fitness. The first and most obvious is the physical result. The high intensity exercise continues to push me out of my comfort zone and instead of focusing on individual cosmetic aspirations; we focus on our bodies as a whole and how to move the efficiently and effectively. We strive each day for overall fitness, strength and flexibility. The competitive, yet supportive environment allows you to track your progress and push you to do your best.

Another reason, and probably the most significant, is the community that cajoles me back to the gym each and every day. The military has known that doing something physically intense and difficult binds a group of people. Being able to give an all-out effort and exhausting all of your energy brings a sense of victory that we experience as a team, or more accurate, a family.
